Workshop: Creative Writing

Downderry based writer Helen Thomas, will lead you in exploring your creative writing with engaging creative prompts and approaches. For everyone over 16. Experienced writers welcome, but no experience is needed.
Helen is a poet, published author and academic researcher. She comes from London, loves nature and has lived in Cornwall for over 20 years.

Kerdroya & the Cornish Hedge (Film / Q&A)

A special film screening that explores the 4,000-year-old treasures that are Cornish Hedges and celebrates the opening of Kerdroya – a huge classical labyrinth built in the middle of Bodmin Moor. The film will be followed by a Q&A with Will Coleman, Artistic Director of Kerdroya (and storyteller, author, musician and Cornish ‘cultural entrepreneur’).

Handmade Hustle: how to sell your crafts online
10-11am – 24 April, 1, 8, 15 May
£40 (£35 conc) for four workshops and 14 hours Studios desk time.
This beginners’ course introduces you to getting your first products online and setting up a crafts business. Over 4x 1-hour, bite-size workshops, take your first steps towards turning your hobby into a profitable enterprise.
The course also includes 4 hours per week free desk time at Saltash Studios to work on your business. A great opportunity to meet other makers, build your confidence and work on your businesses together.

Local artist Pamela Austin-Roberts introduces the beautiful art of willow weaving. This ancient craft involves weaving or sewing pliable willow rods into three-dimensional objects, such as baskets and sculptures.

Workshop: Tone in Art

Working in pencil, artist Mark Fielding introduces tone and how to use it successfully to create three dimensional space. The content of this workshop is based on Mark’s lessons with Robert Lenkiewicz.
Plymouth-based artist Mark Fielding has a gallery at Royal William Yard and is an Academician of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Art. He is fascinated by people and inspired by colours and patterns of landscapes, the sea and urban architecture.

Visit the first Pain Café, located at Saltash Studios, for a 30-minute session of mindfulness, movement and relaxation to reduce the focus on your pain. Sean and Mary-Ella (both sufferers of chronic pain themselves) are your hosts, offering a listening ear as well as signposting you to useful services & resources. Connect and chat to members of the community who are in a similar situation to you. Sessions last 2 hours and you can drop in or stay for the whole session – held in the meeting room at Saltash Studios.
